MhEST in Tree Planting Campaign, Targets 50,000 Seedlings

Mlambe Health and Social Trust (MhEST) will from 6 February, 2020 embark on a tree planting campaign in Zomba rural aimed at conserving the environment.

The two-week exercise will see the charitable organisation lead other stakeholders in planting over 50,000 fruit and indigenous trees.

MhEST Senior Programmes Officer Spencer Bandawe said: “We’re collaborating with 137 Community-based Organisations (CBOs), traditional leaders and local chiefs in this exercise, after which we’ll train them how to graft and look after the trees.

“As an organisation we believe in the power of partnership, so we would want to support these CBOs who for a long time have been dormant.

“At the end of the day they will have the capacity to source their own income and be able support the vulnerable individuals in their communities.”
