Mlambe Health and Social Trust (MhEST) is providing and orienting homes of street-connected children in Zomba on the usage of re-usable face masks in the fight against COVID-19.
The charitable organisation is also donating relief items to these households whose children will not be able to access the MhEST Resource Center due to a 21-day nationwide lockdown.
Senior Programmes Officer Spencer Bandawe said: “We have advised these street-connected children to stay with their families while giving them comprehensive support during their time away from the Center.
“However, we’re providing temporary 24-hour shelter to some of the street-connected children who are still awaiting re-integration. We believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to protect the vulnerable from this pandemic.”
MhEST has provided over 160 re-usable face masks to homes of 20 street-connected children.
