MhEST Equips Vulnerable Elderly in Fight against Covid-19

Zomba-based charitable organisation Mlambe Health and Social Trust (MhEST) is helping vulnerable elderly fight against Covid-19 by distributing re-usable face masks and soap.

Executive Director Dr. Zahra Ismail said: “The distribution of masks and soap to these vulnerable elderly in the rural areas is important in reducing the spread of the Coronavirus.

“The rural community does not have enough resources with many often living in small and crowded houses. Therefore it’s important for everyone in these families and households to wear face masks.

“We have also distributed the same to street-connected children households. At the moment we only have 3 children at the MhEST Resource Center while others have been forced to stay home due to this pandemic. We’ll be following them up during this period.”

One of the beneficiaries from Village Headman Kumpasa in T/A Mwambo, Chrissie Paul said: “This donation will help our families fight this virus by protecting and preventing us from infecting others in the village.”

MhEST has supported 23 vulnerable elderly beneficiary households in Pirimiti catchment area with the re-usable face masks and soap.
